Documentation of historical techniques in art and crafts
EU project with teachers and students of the HAWK and from Finland, the Netherlands, Hungary and Germany
Fortunately there are still a few people with knowledge about historical craft skills. Often there are just the small but important details - a certain trick or a certain movement with a tool - that are critical to the success of the production of a certain product. But too often, this is not documented. These manufacturing processes represent an intangible cultural heritage and should be documented.
As part of the EU's Erasmus program founded courses, short "HITAC - Documentation of Historical Techniques in Arts and Crafts" , as much as possible of the currently extant knowledge of these historical techniques in arts and crafts should be documented, including videos and by interviews.
